Allu Arjun’s upcoming sci-fi fantasy thriller Raaka continues to be in the news for interesting reasons. So far, the film’s genre, scale and budget, and cast have been hogging the limelight. The film’s production house, Sun Pictures, has made an interesting announcement that keeps the fans of Allu Arjun going.

It stated that Raaka has set a Guinness World Record for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time,” with 37 performers captured simultaneously! Making the occasion all the more historic, the statement further added that Allu Arjun and director Atlee have received the Guinness World Records certificate. What’s interesting is that the makers made the big announcement on Monday to coincide with Atlee’s birthday.
‘Shot in the arm’ for Allu Arjun fans
Earlier in the day, the makers had teased the fans with a poster that showed No. 37. While fans kept guessing about the update, a Guinness World Record was something not many would have imagined. The latest news regarding Raaka has come like a shot in the arm for the fans who have been insisting on updates about the film. “HISTORY MADE A global triumph that takes Indian cinema to the world stage,” wrote the filmmakers, revealing the news along with the pictures.
What motion capture in real-time means
According to VFX experts, motion capture in real-time means recording an actor’s physical movements and instantly mapping them onto a digital 3D character on a screen with virtually zero delay. An actor sports a custom suit with reflective dots or electronic sensors on their joints. Special cameras or AI systems track these markers in a 3D space. Later, the system (computer) processes the movement data instantly. The development makes a virtual character move in exactly the same way, at the same time.
Filmfare was the first to report that Allu Arjun has been shooting on a specially designed VFX set in Mumbai. While the actor has been shooting previsualisation scenes, the director also gets ample scope to enhance and edit scenes.
